Just a quick post...

We were featured in a blog post here in a new blog by Artfire artisan Designs by Tonya Goudy. She makes adorable dresses for little girls, and some pretty cool clothes for grown-up girls too -- you should really go take a look.  Her blog, Handmade Clothing and Fashions, is new, but is worth following if you're trying to buy handmade whenever possible. She features full outfits for men, women, and children made up of nothing but handmade items.

And if you're a seller of handmade items, contact her to see about being featured in a future blog post.

Busy, Busy, Busy

We've been busy lately, just not necessarily with jewelry stuff. I did find time to get a few pieces done and listed, like this blue and silver memory wire bracelet and these pink flower earrings. I also went bead shopping this past weekend, when one of the bead stores here in Dallas, Beading Dreams, had a half off sale, so there will be new things soon, I promise.

Right now, though, I'm gearing up for Paper Cowgirl, an altered art retreat held every June in Waxahachie, Texas. This will be my third year to attend, and I'm looking forward to it, but I'm busy getting my swaps finished and ready to go. I sometimes procrastinate just a little (I should probably throw in here, this is Shannon, not Helen, writing - Helen is not prone to procrastination) and now with 11 days to go, I have one swap I haven't even started working on, one that I've bought the stuff for and have some planning done, but no actual physical work, and one that is maybe a third of the way through. Maybe. If I'm being generous. And, in addition to the swaps, I have a project I wanted to include in an auction to raise money for a memorial scholarship for one of Paper Cowgirl's cofounders, who died of colon cancer a few years ago. The requirements for the auction were to alter a Velveeta box in some way, but still have it be the same basic size and shape as it started out. You can see mine so far in this pic, it's in the middle there, between the cigar box that's in the process of being altered for a swap, and the weird tree looking thing that was really just a way to hold beads I needed to paint for one of the projects.

Oh, and in addition to all of this, I have two friends staying with me for Paper Cowgirl, because I live near the event -- and my house looks like a tornado went through it. Well, my house almost always looks like a tornado went through it, but now people are going to see it!
P.S. - We're going to be changing some stuff with our website, too.  We'll probably announce that on Facebook in the next few days, keep an eye out for it.
